Two men arrested on drug trafficking charges in Wareham

Two men were arrested Friday morning after State Police discovered 400 grams of heroin in a backpack in their car in Wareham, officials said in a statement.

Jaqua Smith, 24, of Onset, was allegedly driving with an expired inspection sticker with Shawn Panepinto, 22, of New Bedford as his passenger. Around 9:30 a.m., Trooper Brandyn Henson observed the Honda CR-V stopped at a stop sign on 11th Street, State Police said.

The vehicle pulled into a parking lot, and Henson made contact with them. A search of the vehicle turned up a container filled with about 400 grams of heroin inside the backpack, according to the statement.
